Short Week since no work on Monday!
Tuesday:
I finally got through 324pg of the Food Service Equipment Submittal! By the time I got done there were tons of items that did not meet Spec so I had to email my contact at Johnson-Lancaster and be tactful because apparently it is totally cool to not have your Food Service Equipment Contract in before your submittal is approved! WEIRD! I can't force them to meet spec when they don't have a contract, ya they signed a deal sheet but at the end of the day that MEANS NOTHING!
I learned how to enter Submittals and information into CMiC today! Not very hard at all it's a really great software program. I started entering Data into today!
Had a Phone Conference with our Senior PM (Chris), General Super(Glen), Owner of Hunter (Chuck), Hunter's Super (Jeff), and Megan (bought out subs) to talk about discrepancy. Nothing was settled except that our Sr PM and Chuck needed to get this situation settled.
Wednesday:
OAC meeting with Owner, Architect, and State: Didn't go well, The people who needed to be there to answer the questions and get this settled, were not there. Very unhelpful and very unproductive.
We had our Ext Membrane Coordination Meeting: Subs who said they would be there were not and made for a short meeting. We did get everyone on the same page in reference to the Coordination drawings, we got everyone their color (Each sub is going to submit their detailed drawings having their components colored and with their name and sequence of their portion of work in AutoCad, then our BIM guy will overlay all of them and make sure it all works together!! :) )
I got told today I will be going to Crane Safety next week in Charlotte! Yes!
Entered Submittal Log into CMiC
Thursday:
More Submittal work: Emailed Subs who didn't respond to voicemails last week (i have to be gentle with these subs!!)
Went on a site walk with the PE's (It's nice working in the Super trailer, I am more informed than the PE's are so I feel special!!)
We had our weekly Submittal meeting: I got the task of making sure Hunter is staying up with the Progress Photos and Testing!
I had the task of creating a Concrete Tracking Log since that will start soon! (Glen liked it a lot)
I got to review the rebar submittal, AHHH It was hard!
Our 1st Pre-Con meeting is set for Monday 9:30Am and I got invited to be there! YES
Friday:
Since I got all the submittals we had in reviewed and I contacted all my subs, they didn't have much for me, so I got to Post RFI's to drawings:Ya learning how to read Mechanical and Electrical Drawings.
With the RFI's I had to post them to the right drawing and make a Red Bubble around the section in question! HARRRD, but I feel good because I asked questions to make sure I did things right and learned a lot about those drawings!
Staff Meeting was Canceled because our SR PM was not here (Chris)
Everyone seemed to leave a lil earlier today! HAHA I wonder why!
Oh Lackey: They said when they 1st got out to site that it would take them 8hrs to get all the trees grinded, we are going on 5 days and now they are in the way of Hunter and where they need to be cutting to get the building going.
Since I got my work done by 9am: I got to spend the day out in the Field with ROY!! I love Roy's Sayings: I am going to write a book about him and his Duhickeys and Dealiyamombobs!
I had my 1st Safety Audit Walk Thru: Not too shabby! I'm a pro no big deal!
So Myself, Greg (PE) and Emily (PE) were about to leave the site to go to Morganton's Blues Brews and Barbecues event at 6pm when Lackey(who we told had to be out of the way of Hunter by Saturday Morning and who had left at 4pm because of the rain) Came pulling into the site!!
We couldn't tell them to leave because if you do that you can't say anything to them when they are behind schedule or when they are still in the way of Hunter because you didn't let them work when they wanted to.
So we had to wait around and watch them move their equipment and materials out of the way of Hunter (FINALLY!)
So I didn't leave the site till 7:15pm on a FRIDAY! When there isn't much work on site being done! CRAZY
Weekly Reflection:
I made it a month here! I've learned so much and I feel like this is exactly where I need to be!
I honestly can't see my life without Construction. It is every changing and exciting. I am super stoked for next week: Pre-Con Meeting, Cherry Hospital Visit, and Crane Safety Training in Charlotte
This week I learned:
No one is where they should be when it comes to meeting
All the PE's here are Engineers: Either Civil or Architectural
I want to be a Superintendent real bad
If I don't make it in the Construction Industry the Supers said I go into Baking (at the beginning of the week I bring in baked goods for them, they love it apparently)
Just because I am a girl on this jobsite doesn't mean my opinion doesn't matter

Jeff From Hunter PROMISED that he will teach me how to use some of his machinery (LIke this 8!!)
RRRAHHH Greg and I went playing on the site while we waited for Lackey to finish up! (Huge isn't it) This is what they pushed trees down with
There was always more than 12 pieces of Machinery going on site this week at all times! So excited to see the site change and get ready for the building
