Week Three: May 21st thru May 25th

Monday:
Safety meeting as always, this week we talked about Severe Weather! Kind of perfect since it has been raining like crazy.
We had a scheduling meeting: Called Lackey and Camful to mobilize early because we don't want to get behind because of the rain.
Lackey is our Tree Removal sub.

Tuesday:
Safety Audit Walk Thru Schedule came out, I'm considered  Field Staff with the Superintendents!! I am on the schedule twice before I leave! WOOT
Lackey Came out today and started pushing trees down! Yes Literally Pushing not cutting the trees down. If they push the trees down (WITH A TRACK HOE) vs. cutting they don't have to worry about removing the stump, faster and more efficient.

The date was set for the Cherry Hospital visit 6-5-12!! I'm excited
Site was shut down shortly after I took pictures due to rain and lightning. Kind of poetic since yesterday we had our safety meeting about Severe Weather and the procedures on how to shut down the site when it gets bad out.

Wednesday:
I finally got all the drawings updated and was given a new job. I got to help the Submittal Team. I got to check the Metal Stairs Submittal against the Specs, then I got a 324pg Food Service Equipment Submittal I had to check against the specs!! But before I tackled the Food Service Submittal I got to count Aluminum Doors, AWC is responsible for the blocking around those doors so we needed a count so we can order the Sheets for it.
I was told today since I come in so early that I pushed others to get in early.
AKA: the PE's in the other trailer/My roommate. He tries to keep up with me but it's too much for him. The one day he got in at 5am by 4pm he was barely moving! He tried to work out like me as well. HA didn't work for him either! Please you can't keep up with me!

Thursday:
More Submittal work. I got to call Subs who's submittals were next on the list to come in and ask them the status of their submittal. Making those phone calls was difficult because the Subs either didn't have a contract yet or didn't have their contract back to us. You can't push someone who isn't tied to us yet!!
Today I got access to CMIC: Walsh's Project Management Software!
We had our weekly Internal Submittal Meeting: I finally was able to participate in this meeting, had some updates and a few questions to ask!! I felt part of the team
I Try to make it out to site everyday and today I watched trees being pushed down!
While I was out on site with Roy Lackey's Super and Hunter's Super approached us
When they approached us, you could tell there was some tension in the air: Apparently while Lackey was pushing down trees, he almost hit the Hunter Superintendent and their surveyor. Hunter was pissed as hell and Lackey was oblivious. AWKWARD. When Lackey left, Hunter went off; Roy called Glen (the head super). Glen came out and calmed down Hunter and said we all have to get along out here. After Hunter calmed down and got back to work, Glen made the comment we are overpaid babysitters!!

Friday:
More Submittal Work, still contacting subs and reviewing the Food Service Equipment Submittal.
We had our staff meeting today: Apparently ECS (soil testers) are not showing up! No good.
Rebar submittal is not approved yet for the Mock Up or the Walls and the buildings footings are to be set by June 19th! EEEKKKK
We got told that we have Monday off.
We have Compliance Evaluations!
Right now we have 4 different Coordination meetings being tracked with regular meetings: Kind of amazing that we have such a great team and everything runs so smoothly.
Our team is sooo fantastic:  We all went to lunch together and had an awesome time! I love that we can do that
While talking to Hunter about the cutting and fill that they are starting this weekend, we found out there was a discrepancy in what they thought they were supposed to cut and fill and what we thought they were to cut and fill about $450,000 worth of discrepancy. Since it was Friday afternoon before a Holiday, we have to wait till Tuesday and we can talk to the Charlotte office who made the deal sheets with the subs before we can resolve this issue. This is a huge issue but no one seemed to boil over or seem as upset as you think someone would get with this news. I will definitely keep you updated out what happens with Hunter!
Weekly Reflection:
What an exciting week: I got the drawings updated, I got to start work on Submittals, and I got to see some of the struggles of what happens with the subs.
I learned that:
Subs don’t get along, even when they are working for the same goal, to help get this building built and make money
Subs won’t answer their phone or return calls when they know you what something from them
And when a pan runs up and down the parking lot going from the site to the stock pile, they literally tear up the road
