Monday:
Had our weekly Safety Meeting today about Electricity, then our MSDS talk was about rebar since we have rebar deliveries this week and should start installing later this week.
No work on site done due to rain.
Had an internal meeting about Exterior Skin Enclosure Meeting with our BIM guy (Michael), PM Matt, Becky, and myself. We discussed what we wanted/needed from our subs so we can get the coordination drawings going in the right direction. We told the subs to have their coordination drawings downloaded to sharepoint by today and we checked and we were still missing drawings from subs. So I had to call them and yell at them!! I stressed that we had to have the drawings by our meeting Wednesday! Let’s see how well they do.
Tuesday:
We had our 1st weekly Sub Meeting today. The subs that will be on site this week and the next few weeks are required to attend. We talked about our look ahead schedule for the next few weeks. We were delayed a little because yet again Monday was a rain day as well as today. Form work for the Mock Up will start tomorrow weather permitting.
I am really getting sick of the rain here!!
Wednesday:
We had our Weekly OAC meeting today: talk about AWKWARD! Apparently there are some major issues between Archer Western and Freelon on the Cherry Hospital and those issues have made Freelon mad at Archer Western on our project. It was very obvious; the Architect (Eric) had a 180 Degree attitude change. He is usually really friendly and willing to work with us, but when we told he we needed him that Anna (engineer) will be here to inspect the rebar for the mock up on Monday then we will pour on Monday, he said “Well I need to inspect the Vapor Barrier before you pour and I will not be there Monday, I will be there Wednesday!” My jaw literally hit the floor. The Architect has always said this project isn’t the Cherry project, blah blah blah, but he made what is going on there affect us and that’s just not right. But my SR PM (Chris) handled himself very well and just said, ok we will pour on Wednesday! EEKK
We had our Bi-Weekly Ext Skin Enclosure Meeting today. We FINALLY got everyone on the same page of what we want from them in regards to the Coordinated Drawings and we gave everyone a due date for Every detail (over 380) uploaded to sharepoint by June 21st! (I’ll let you know how that goes)
I am now the lead person on the coordination drawings, I am to keep track of when people turn their stuff in for these drawings, I told them to email me when they upload drawings to sharepoint so I can keep track!! I also was in charge creating/sending out the meeting minutes for these meetings now!!
Piedmont came out today and started digging to lay some pipe!! Very exciting!
The Formwork for the Mock up was formed today!!
Thursday:
Our Weekly Submittal meeting was today, we had it outside because for two hours our power was turned off so that they could wire power to the subs trailers that came in! We now have Wayne J. Griffin’s trailer and CamFul’s trailer wired and ready to go!!
At our Submittal meeting we went through the things that needed to be taken care of right away! I was told today that I don’t really need to call the subs like I have been that are on my list because it’s a ways out L We talked about the submittal from Johnson Lancaster that I got in (Food Service Equipment over 384 pgs) and how we are going to submit it!
Piedmont was going to start backfilling their pipe today, but the ECS guy (soil testing guy) said that the soil that Hunter had used to fill that area that Piedmont just dug up, was not suitable to go back in because of all of the debris?!?!
That caused a delay in their work! We now have to get backfill from where Hunter is cutting on the site and now have to pay someone to remove all that soil they dug up L
We asked Hunter if they would be willing to move the soil for us because their price is cheaper than Piedmonts, but that caused some issues, now the Owner of Hunter (Chuck), Rob (PM), and Jeff (Site Super) will be at our office at 10am to have a meeting with Glen and Chris to work out the issues and miscommunication.
Atlantic Coast Waterproofing came out today to put the Vapor Barrier on the Mock up today! It was very yellow!!
Friday:
It was a very quiet day around the office today. Steve, Roy, Travis, and Michael were gone for various reasons, so we didn’t have our Weekly staff meeting.
I got the schedule all updated on Primevara for my boss by 9am and my other tasks done so I went out on site with Paul! Hunter was the only one’s working today, Piedmont was waiting to get the soil moved out of their way and more soil in to backfill before they come back out. And Lackey is just worthless (yes they are still removing the tree stumps that they said would be gone like 2 weeks ago!! Well they are still there)
Hunter had their meeting with our team and it went well. They squared everything away and we are all on the same page. I hope we can get the peace and get through this project together. Hunter has been great to us and I really think they are an exceptional company.
We were told today by ECS that we can now go head and use the soil to backfill as long as we try and remove as much debris as possible?!?! They changed their mind because once the state and architects found out they approved it once and removing that soil and bringing new soil in would cost extra money, they had a change of heart!! hahah
I got my Non DOT Driver Sticker today!!: I am approved to drive company trucks! Which is weird because none of the PE’s have theirs and they have been here longer than me! Strange!!!
End of the Week Summary:
We didn’t have a very productive week on site due to the rain, yet again! I’m going to freak out soon if it doesn’t stop raining! The crazy thing is; it is gorgeous on the weekends here! So pretty! I mean I spend my time at the pool both Saturday and Sunday, yet when the week hits, it rains. Lucky our subs are awesome and last weekend they worked Saturday and Sunday, but this weekend they only worked Saturday which is okay being that Sunday is Father’s Day!!
This week I’ve Learned:
- Lackey will never been off our site!
- Hunter is willing to work with us and I applaud them
- Chris (SR PM) has amazing self-control and poise
- Money speaks like nothing else in Construction
- Rain is the worst and I hate it with everything in me
- Vapor Barrier just looks like a sheet of plastic, nothing special!
